20th Sunday In Ordinary Time
The invitation to a Banquet by the Wisdom of God in the Book of Proverbs is reflected in Jesus’ offer of the Bread of Life, in today’s Gospel. Jesus, the WORD OF GOD and the WISDOM OF GOD INCARNATE, is giving Himself to us as our food and drink through the Mystery of the Holy Eucharist. Our participation in the Holy Eucharist is our answer to the invitation of Christ to have an intimate relationship with him. This should take us beyond the Altar, to our daily lives. We are sent forth to be the hands and feet of Jesus by living and sharing our Faith.
Jesus gave Himself totally to the Church in the Holy Eucharist. As Stewards of Christ how generous are we in giving ourselves sacrificially to the Church by sharing our time, talents and treasure? St. Paul advises us to live wisely in this present times that we may not fall into the traps of the evil one.
