33rd Sunday In Ordinary Time
We have come very close to the end of our current liturgical year. The Scripture readings invite us to take a close look at our end-times. Prophet Daniel describes his
vision of the final Judgment day in today’s 1st reading. Jesus also predicts about the end-times in today’s Gospel. “In those days they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory, and then he will send out the angels to gather his elect.” (Mk 13:24-32)
While living with the expectation of the Second Coming of Jesus, we are given a second chance to defeat the evil by living a life of Grace. Let us allow Jesus into our lives by spending time with him in prayer, by frequenting the Sacraments, by praying the Rosary and through our acts of generous sharing and service. Let us look forward to the future with the hope that we will be numbered among the “elect”.
The days leading to the celebration of “Thanksgiving” is a time set aside for doing acts of charity, to be grateful for all the blessings and to pray for social justice and peace. I Wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving Day!
