32nd Sunday In Ordinary Time
In this Sunday’s Scripture readings, we find the stories of two widows who became models of generosity! Through Prophet Elijah God rewarded the widow of Zarephath for her generous sharing. Jesus praised the poor widow in the temple who offered all she had.
The Scripture says, “God loves a cheerful giver.” There is more joy in giving than in receiving! God’s greatest act of generosity is found in his Son Jesus who died for our salvation. Jesus was pointing to the poor widow in the Gospel as an example for all of us. She let go of everything and entrusted herself to the providence of God.
In reality, all that we are and all that we have come from God. As faithful stewards we are called upon to share our blessings with those in need. Even if we do not have much material things to share, we can always share what we still have, our time and talents. There is always someone out there who needs a listening ear, some comforting words or who thirsts for a cup of cold water.
Dear parishioners, may our God reward you for the generous sharing of your time, talents and treasure through your involvement in the different ministries of our parish community.
