29th Sunday In Ordinary Time
Today our Church observes the World Mission Sunday. It is amazing to see how the Missionaries of Charity founded by St. Teresa of Kolkata, the Missionaries of the Poor founded by Fr. Richard Ho Lung and many other Missionary priests, sisters and brothers are joyfully serving the poor and the suffering throughout the world. No doubt, they are all inspired by the teachings of Jesus in today’s Gospel, “Whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant. For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mk 10:42-45)
As Catholic Christians, we are all called to be missionaries first of all in our own local communities. Because of your generosity to share your time and treasure, we have been able to reach out and help the poor, the sick, the homeless, the hungry and the imprisoned in our surroundings. True greatness is found in serving one another and by giving of ourselves as Jesus did. Our parish offers various opportunities for those desiring to be involved in the work of evangelization and service.
How well do we respond to Jesus’ call to service?
