Live as Children of Light
4rd Sunday of Lent
There is so much in common with both the Season of Lent and Spring Season! Just as Spring ushers in new life in the nature, so also Lent is meant to bring about a fresh beginning in our lives. This Sunday’s liturgy invites us to a renewal of our lives by receiving the light of Christ which dispels the darkness of sin from within us.
It is said that there is no one so blind as the one who refuses to see. Jesus had harsh words for the Pharisees for their “spiritual blindness” which prevented them from seeing the truth. There may be times we tend to cling to our own narrow and prejudiced views as the Pharisees did and refuse to let go of our blindness. Jesus is waiting for our consent to heal us. St. Paul reminds us in today’s 2nd reading, “You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.”
This season of Lent offers us a great opportunity to be healed of our spiritual blindness in order to see the newness of life both within and around us. Let us participate in this year’s Lenten Parish Mission and listen to Fr. Bill Casey, the messenger of Truth sent by God to our parish.
Looking forward to a spiritually enriching Parish Mission with you all!
