Women's Catholic Bible Study

Women’s Catholic Bible Study (WCBS) is entering its 17th year at St. John Neumann Church.

WCBS invites all women to sign up for the 2017-2018 study of Revelation.  We will meet on Wednesday mornings from 10 am - Noon, February 1st - April 26th. Registration forms can be picked up in the parish office, RE office, or here on the parish website (right hand bottom corner).

In this intriguing look at one of the most talked-about books in Scripture, Jeff Cavins will explore Revelation to demonstrate how the Kingdom established by Christ in His Church is intimately connected with the Kingdom of Heaven, especially through the celebration of the Mass. You will also learn what all the mysterious figures and images of Revelation represent, as well as what will happen during the Second Coming of Christ, what has already happened, and what is happening now in Salvation History.

“Once you start learning he makes you hunger for more. Jeff pulls everything you need to know out of the Bible and it all starts to make sense like it never did before.” —Margaret A. Tirpak, NY

Lord Teach Me To Pray is a three-part Ignatian prayer series developed in 2001 to meet the desire of men and women for on-going spiritual growth as they respond to the call to holiness and to a deeper commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord.   It was developed as an outreach program to bring the Holy Spirit into our daily lives in facilitated faith-sharing prayer communities, where the Lord, himself, teaches them to pray.   Lord Teach Me To Pray is part of the New Evangelization as understood in the writings and initiatives of Blessed John Paul II, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and Pope Francis.  The mission of Lord, Teach Me To Pray consists in enabling  men and women to grow in their knowledge and love of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, thus facilitating their eternal salvation and that of their family.

Part 1: Praying Christian Virtues

Praying Christian Virtues will introduce you to the meditative and contemplative way of prayer devised by St. Ignatius of Loyola, enabling you to further develop your prayer life.  This 12 week program is facilitated in a group setting, meets for 2 hours once a week, and requires fifteen minutes of daily prayer on assigned scriptures.  (No prerequisites)

Part 2: My 19th Annotation

This communal approach allows you to do the full Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.  You will pray for all the graces that are offered while experiencing the direction of the Holy Spirit through weekly Faith Sharing on your daily prayer.  This 30 week program is facilitated in a group setting, meets for 2 hours once a week, and requires thirty to forty-five minutes of daily prayer on assigned scriptures. (Part 1 is a prerequisite.)

Part 3: Discernment & Gifts of the Spirit

Through catechesis on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, praying St. Ignatius’ Rules of Discernment, and weekly Faith Sharing on your daily prayer, you will experience the grace of growing in sensitivity to God’s presence, enabling you to become more responsive to His daily call.  This 14 week program is facilitated in a group setting, meets for 2 hours once a week, and requires forty-five to sixty minutes of daily prayer on assigned scriptures. (Parts 1 and 2 are prerequisites.)

Contact Chris, if you are interested in learning to pray in a more meaningful way.

Adult Evening Bible Study

GALATIANS: SET FREE TO LIVE by Jeff Cavins from Ascension Press. “Paul’s letter to the Galatians speaks directly to the heart of Christians and addresses the most important question we can ask: “What must we do to be saved?” This fascinating letter reveals the merciful love that God the Father has for us, His children. It speaks of the extraordinary gift of salvation that Jesus has won for us, and it explains how we can unite ourselves to Christ’s redeeming sacrifice through faith and love. Galatians is a study that will reignite your love for God as you learn of the astonishing love God has for you.

This is an 8 week study starting Monday, January 9, 2017 from 7:00-8:30. The video presentation is about 50 minutes. We will be meeting in the lower level at St. John Neumann, room 4. Registration forms are available on St. John Neumann’s website, or outside the Religious Education office.
